There has been a steady decline in teaching ceramics in schools due to lack of equipment and trained staff. However, Corelli College has kilns, potters wheels and an assortment of tools but require additional equipment and the assistance of an experienced artist to help staff to acquire skills to teach ceramics to students 14-15 years old and upwards.

We believe this to be an exciting and worthwhile project as, once established, Corelli College would like to be able to hold evening classes and offer the use of their equipment to local primary schools and community groups.

A group of students from Years 9, 10 and 11 and also a 6th Former have thoroughly enjoyed their first term working on a surrealist ceramic project. Painting and firing will be done next term and we look forward to the final results.

We are most grateful to The Arts Society Greater London Area for matched funding for this project.
