As one of its objectives NADFAS aims to inspire young people with lasting enthusiasm for the arts, and an awareness of our arts heritage and its conservation. To achieve this NADFAS encourages member societies to promote high quality visual arts activities for young people. One way in which Societies provide opportunities for the young to gain practical experience of the arts is by supporting Young Arts Projects which are arts related activities for an individual or a number of young people. |

| Visiting Artist at Newhaven PRU - 2008 |
|
With a grant from GDFAS, Newhaven Pupil Referral Unit in Eltham was able to have a visiting artist to work with pupils in June.
Margaret Higginson, a local sculptor, held workshops at the PRU, working with some of the fourteen and fifteen year-old pupils. The pupils who attended the workshops were those who had previous difficulty sustaining concentration and attending lessons.
All who took part and the workshops, showed evident enjoyment, concentration and commitment to the work.
Every pupil worked on a different theme which they had discussed with Margaret in her preliminary visit and the finished works have given them a real sense of achievement.
