The British Museum The British Museum
A magnificent collection of old masters, including works by Poussin, Claude, Rubens, Murillo, Van Dyck, Rembrandt, Watteau, Gainsborough and many others. The Gallery was designed by Sir John Soane - with a new extension recently completed by Rick Mather - and the founders lie, to this day, in their Mausoleum at the centre of the Gallery. Courtauld Institute of Art The Courtauld Institute of Art is one of the world’s leading institutes for teaching and research in the history of art and conservation and was awarded a 5* grade in the most recent Research Assessment Exercise. Uniquely it houses world famous collections of paintings, prints and drawings in its Gallery, and also manages the Hermitage Rooms.
At Somerset House, one of London's great 18th century buildings, the Hermitage Rooms recreate in miniature the décor of the Winter Palace in St Petersburg and provide a perfect backdrop for rotating exhibitions drawn from the museum and other collections. The Hermitage Rooms at Somerset House
