Just like any great cathedral, stately home or museum Britain’s stone circles deserve and reward study. Using archaeology and folklore we consider why these circles were made. Were they for instance observatories, cult centres, hospitals or highways to the afterlife. We also consider their place in art – featuring works by Constable, Turner, Henry Moore and others.
